My name is Katie Evans. I own KTJ Films, a marketing and wedding filmmaking business based in Lubbock, Texas. I am a certified digital marketing professional with a passion for developing strategic marketing videos as well as inspirational films that document life’s most important moments. 

BEING A FILMMAKER
While a lot goes into knowing the basics of operating film equipment, editing, and design, this only scratches the surface of what it takes to be a quality filmmaker. Listening to a customer’s needs, understanding their goals, and knowing how to map out the best methods to meet objectives is extremely important. More so, recognizing gaps and being able to suggest strong ideas and strategies is even more valuable. Creating films requires collaborating well with others while ultimately having the ability to tell a story and convey an effective message.

It is deeply important to trust in your own abilities, knowing that by pressing on and pushing yourself, you can only get better. Creating marketing and wedding films is challenging and extremely rewarding when all is said and done. That’s why I do it.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
I have always loved producing videos. My earliest “masterpiece” is a documentary of Little Red, my first family dog. In my early college days, I made hodge-podge movies of friends and family. I significantly grew my editing skills when given the opportunity to produce videos in my full-time roles at Texas Tech University, and since 2015, I have enjoyed making travel videos of my husband and I on our many adventures. When people began reaching out to me to make promotion videos and wedding films, I jumped in with both feet. Read more in my blog post, “The Back Story: How it all Began.” 

EDUCATION & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing. Before studying at Texas Tech, I also earned an associate degree in music from South Plains College, after which I developed my full-length music album, “Tonight I Will Sleep,” with FarisWheel Productions at Amusement Park Recording Studio. Most recently, I earned a dual certification from the American Marketing Association and Digital Marketing Institute as a digital marketing professional in 2020.

PERSONAL LIFE
I grew up in Littlefield, Texas, a place that is very dear to my heart. And while my roots in West Texas are deep, I love traveling the world and being a part of other cultures. In day-to-day life, I enjoy spending time with family, making art, cooking, drinking coffee, and doing everything with my husband and our dog, Alamo.
